  Wedding Review - It was almost a year ago that my then fiancé and I were looking for wedding venues. We were recently engaged, and wanted to have our wedding within the next six months. We visited several venues, hoping to find a church with a beautiful sanctuary, inviting reception space, room for at least 200 guests, and organized planning staff – not to mention budget considerate. We found all of that, and so much more, at First Baptist Church Decatur.
  Immediately upon seeking the large, open, bright sanctuary, we were impressed. The classic pews, center aisle, lightly stained glass windows, and balcony were this bride’s dream. Moving down the easy access stairs to the reception area, we immediately felt comfortable in the spacious, yet intimate, reception space. This was not your average gym style fellowship; the layout was perfect for a wedding and the stage provided space for a dance floor. The A/V and lighting systems in both the reception space and sanctuary made it easy to create the look and sound fit perfectly to the bride and groom’s liking.
  We toured the entire church, Katie (our wedding coordinator at First Baptist) leading us to the spacious groom’s and bridal suites, conference room that we ultimately used for our rehearsal dinner, and the sanctuary where I (the bride) took pre-wedding photos. The gardens, front lawn, and beautiful architecture also provided ideal spaces and backdrops for wedding day photos.
  Throughout our entire wedding planning process, Katie and the entire staff at FBCD were responsive, accommodating, patient, and supportive. I was able to relay my ideas for wedding day schedules, catering, music, transportation, even communion set-up. The staff helped with everything. Randy, the church caterer, helped us craft a menu specific to our liking, and offered free tastings. We could not beat the price he offered us, and our guests loved his food – especially the sausage and grits and ice-cream bar. About two weeks before our wedding day, I sent my playlists to Randall. Not only did he download all the music and have everything cued up right on time, he also took to liberty of making CDs for us to keep.
  With all this, one might expect to pay a hefty price. Not at all! The price for the church, catering, A/V and lights, and coordinating was beyond reasonable, almost a steal. FBCD truly ministered to my now husband and I through their love and support.
  Our wedding experience at FBCD was flawless. From first walk-through to wedding clean-up, I have no complaints, and only strong recommendations, even pleads, for you to have your wedding at Frist Baptist Church Decatur.

  Special day today at church for us We can now say we have a church home at First Baptist Church of Decatur!! This church has something super amazing going on and we are just blessed to be apart of it. We have so much to learn and grow and can't imagine a better place to do it! Amazing friends, mentors and Preachers. If you are in the Atlanta area and want to visit church that is so different that God is present at.. Go here!
  
  We love the Fresh start service and it's music...Amazing! They usually have several instruments like harmonica, accordion, or violin..
  Today they sang a well known song.. you have all heard it on the radio.. Mumford and Sons " I will wait for you"... Amazing talent there using to glorify God.. and what a way to worship!
  
  After a not so great relationship with how church works in the past, this one has healed all my scars and proves to us that God's love conquers all.. LOVE LOVE LOVE this church..

  A "Big Tent" church with room for all who seek to know God better. Also, the sense of community and hospitality that you find at FBCD makes it welcoming to all.

  As a person who has seen the best and worst of Christian expression I have been surprised and encouraged by the community and sense of family I've found here. FBCD is a place that views the gospel and person of Jesus as liberating and life-giving instead of means to foster a spirit of exclusion.All are welcomed, all are valued. All are loved. The church is intergenerational, leans progressive, and still creates a space where it seems like anybody regardless of theological perspectives (or lack there of) could be met where they are and find a home here.
